An attempt at catching up! {MAY}

(gotta warn ya now...I made the mistake and downsized my files too much, so my quality here is kinda crappy dang it!)

I’m going to TRY to play a little catch up on the blog. With my new calling taking me away more on Sunday’s, all the traveling, and then a deal I made with Duck to only do this while the kids were sleeping….it’s been nearly impossible to keep up.  NOt to mention, you do all the fun things we do, take a bazillion pictures….how IS is possible? Well, I’m going to try to make it so, I just might have to find a different way to do it.

This last Spring Kyson played Baseball.  He LOVED it! And from what I heard, he was a pretty good hitter. But we’ve learned he has a bit of stage fright and kinda clams up a bit during games.

(the dirt picture is what the little ones do during games….get dirty!)

As Ky was busy with Baseball, Maliyah tried Soccer for her first time and really liked it!  She was really nervous about all the running, but she quickly learned it’s a lot more fun to run when there is purpose and you are with friends!  She was a great cheerleader from the sides when she wasn’t playing.  She even once got a little carried away and stepped into the game!

A yearly tradition that we have developed, is a girls night with our good friends while the guys go to the Father Son CAmpout.  We switch who hosts it each year. Last year was at our house, so this year we slept over at The DAvis house!  Raegan had it all planned out, the girls were going to play pioneer, dress up, do everythign outside, without shoes and sleep under the stars. They did nearly all that too!  I enjoyed their beautiful backyard and taking a million pictures.

Maliyah loves their house cause they have animals!

Comment from the girls when they saw the rabbits (pictured below):  “Look! They are trying to keep each other warm!”  Yup girls, keep thinking that.  The best part is they are both male.

Emma was crazy in love with the animals too.  At one point the two cats were sitting in the yard about 10 ft away from eachother. She would pet one, then walk over and pet the next and then go back and forth until finally one of them went away.

The kids started their own fire, roasted hot dogs and marshmallows and just had a blast!

OH yeah, and the little girls were inside playing game.  Nanna and Jilli are just the best of friends.  The picture of Jilli looking mad? and upset while looking at the game? That was really just a funny face she was making during the game.  lol, we were all laughing looking at the camera and how she really looked like she was upset and crying!

In the morning Maliyah and Raegan even made the breakfast outside!  Also pictured are the flowers that Duck got for me mothers Day weekend.  We’ve done flowers a little bit here and there, but this time he went a little extra for me and for the first time I actually thought my yard looked pretty! too much it froze over two weeks later and KILLED everything!

This year we had our POsitive Notes recital at a Park instead of the Library. The library has been GREAT to let us use their facilities, but it was a beautiful spring, we were singing take me out to the Ball game and really wanted to have fun with it. So that was our theme! We actually set up RIGHT in the Baseball diamond at a park (a grass covered one), and for our refreshments had peanuts, popcorn, candy and Juice Boxes!  I got each kid a plastic bat and ball set from the $ store and after the recital any families that wanted to stay and play a little ball was welcome! It turned out so much fun and it was such a beautiful night, I think we’ll do it more often!~  I didn’t end up getting a group shot or any of the actual recital.

March Project.12 Lyrics {Maliyah}

I’ve been trying with this project, to not think into the theme too much…to let my first thought guide my direction. Well the first thought when I saw Lyrics, was of my Maliyah.  This girl LOVES music.  She is so much like me it’s scary, but as annoying as it is sometimes to see her crawled in a corner or in the hall with her music, I have memories doing the same thing! Listening to the same song over and over and writing down the words so I could learn it word for word?

One day after I couldn’t stand hearing the same line over and over (as she was trying to write down every lyric) I showed her the magic of google and typed in ‘lyrics’ and the name of that song.  Wow! That opened up a whole new world to her!

We also love how easy it is to just download one favorite song from Amazon, rather than a whole album!  Every time she hears a new song that she loves she begs for me to buy that song!  I’m so glad she is content with a song rather than a whole album…so much cheaper!

I put together a binder of the Lyrics to Maliyah’s favorite songs.  I also made her a CD of just those songs.  She has been listening to it over and over and over!  She has a beautiful singing voice so I love hearing her sing!  Next I want to make one of her favorite primary songs. I LOVE to hear her sing songs from church!

The best part though is when she has the head phones on, but she is still singing with full enthusiasm!

Maliyah has many talents, but I’m grateful that she has found a love for music so that it can become one of them too.  She is my oldest child, but my youngest best friend.  I would rather hang out with Maliyah than alone any day.  I love taking her shopping with me…or just about anywhere I go. Yes, her and I are both human, so therefore we have our differences; but she is one amazing little girl and is going to grow up to be an amazing woman.  I’m so proud to call her mine and grateful for this excuse to spotlight just her!

And then there was home again…

Jayden was concentration really hard this particular day in school so I just sat there taking pictures of his studiousness….cute kid!

The first Saturday of each month we try to do dates with the kids.  My date with Maliyah was playing soccer at the park then going out for ice cream. We were already dressed for some Baptisms so we just threw on our Tennis Shoes and went to the park all fancy.

I saw these cute little chicks at Walmart and when you hold them, they Peep.  I had to get one. I put him in a little bag and told the kids I had a surprise.  I put my hand in the bag and let him peep.  You should have seen the kids’ faces!  Lol, they love him. His name is squeaky, and they each take turns watching after him for a day.  Squeaky also brought a special treat for each of the kids to make sure he started out on their good side.  Emma got a little over possessive of him the first day, but she has learned to share since.
The kids wondered if this was a test to see if they were responsible enough to keep a pet.  Nope…just thought it would be fun.

Savannah was mad at me about something so went to the corner to pout.  She has the best pouty faces.  By the time I got the camera out…we lost most of it.

Spending some one on one with this funny little girl can be….well…funny!  She CRACKS me up!~

Too bad that night she started puking and didn’t stop till the next morning!  I haven’t had a child that sick (puke, high fever, lethargic) for a really long time. It was soooo sad!  Happy that she is feeling better now….not so happy that she is not ALL the way better so she’s still super crabby, but no longer is satisfied with just sitting in mommy’s lap watching cartoons.
This last Thursday Maliyah and Kyson were gone at Juanita’s house (an elderly lady from church they spend 1-2 afternoons a week with…cleaning her house and playing card games), and both the little girls were sleeping so Jayden and I got a little one on one.  I let him skip quiet time and we made cookies.  I let him do LOTS of the work…including eating ALL The cookie dough he wanted.

Maliyah's Baptism and Pictures

We took these4 pictures a few weeks before Maliyah's Baptism for the sake of making invitations. Her invites turned out beautiful. I hadn't really thought about doing this, it was kind of a Last minute thing, but I'm now soooooo grateful I have these pictures. They truly capture Maliyah's true self, her innocence and inner beauty.

Maliyah is a very loving, caring and sensitive person who has taken her Baptism Covenants very seriously. I'm so proud of her and her desire to do good and make her Heavenly Father Proud.

The actual day of Maliyah's Baptism we took a few pictures before it got too dark

At the actual Baptism these are the only pictures we got :( but at least we got something. Maliyah chose to wear my Baptism dress which I think was awesome. It might have been old fashioned, but I think special that she chose that.

GRRRRRrrrrr her baptism pictures are now some of those that don't want to be taken off the DVD! I'm so sad! I'll have to have mom email them to me.
