A quick run down!

(there is a second page of posts again, so feel free to look at the previous posts!)

Update:

It’s been a crazy busy week as I hurt my back the beginning of it, so that slowed me down quite a bit. But knowing we would be potty training this next week and i would get nothing done, I worked hard the rest of the week to try to catch up! I even was able to make 3 skirts for Easter today!
After our little update, there are a few posts that have been sitting waiting to be posted for months….so yes they are outdated. But just some family sessions I had done this last fall.  It’s not even close to all of them and I probably never will. Sorry.

Moving on…..

Jayden is SO close to swimming! Our requirement is that before they can do any other extra curricular activities or sports, they have to be able to swim the 15 ft across the pool by themselves.  Jayden is ALMOST there!!!

I’ve been trying to spend more one on one time with the kids during the week.  Thursdays Maliyah and Kyson visit an elderly lady in our ward, so this week my activity with Jayden (while the little girls were sleeping) was making this super hero cape! Not too bad considering we didn’t measure anything, didn’t iron anything and used scrap fabrics.  I let Jayden write his Initial for me to put on it.  After cutting it out, I laid it on the cape getting ready to pin it. When I came back from getting the pins….he had ‘fixed’ it and put it backwards again.  Love it.

This week Savannah had her little friend Sammie over to play. They hadn’t played in a long time, and were too cute together. They played in the hall playing with their little animals and playing make believe forever!

Last night before spring Break started we had a late night and got to make cookie and candy creations.  Savannah was trying soooo hard to get her tower to stay up!

St Patricks Day...Baby Shower!

Wednesday and Thursday were FULL days! Wednesday I had a friend over to make a Diaper cake with me, then Maliyah and Kyson helped me lots getting read for the baby shower. In fact Maliyah stuck with me for 3 hours in the evening, cricut cutting, stamping and gluing to make cup cake toppers and new water bottle wrappers. She is a die hard and LOVES doing this kind of stuff!

So with that being said...Thursday was just as fun for her! We had our friends over in the morning to not only do a little crafting for the baby shower, but to also have some St Patty's Day fun! The kids really were super helpful. It's great how much they can help with when you teach them and let them try! We got LOTS of paper flowers made (just like the ones we made for Raegan the previous week), and then they helped us with a scallop paper garland. (idea found here)

Kids St Patty's Breakfast! Green milk(although it doesn't really look green in the green bowl!) and rainbow cereal.

Maliyah's 'rainbow' hairdo.

Last year I got these cute glasses on sale at Big Lots. The kids call them their spy glasses.

Little goodies for the kids..I was happy to find these little paper boxes in my St Patty's Bucket (that I pulled out the night before!) filled with skittles and Rolo's.

GREEN cupcakes! (I've been making a lot of cupcakes lately!)

Maliyah really was a great help with all this stuff. Other than the cutting the paper from the circut, inking the edges of some paper, and gluing the bows on...Maliyah did the water bottles. She also did all the stamping and gluing for the cup cake toppers. She was so cute the whole night saying things like 'these are so cute mom! Where do you think of this stuff?'
Good thing she doesn't know what a copy cat I really am!

This was the sign in table at the baby shower. We had everybody write their name and address on an envelope (to help in the thank you card process) but then the envelope became their entry to our drawing for door prizes!

Our largest paper flower and the scallop circle garland as mentioned before.

More paper flowers (we really did make a lot!) and our baby clothesline! WE did this for my sister-in-laws baby shower a couple years ago and I LOVED it! So yup...we did it again.

The food table. I was happy that I had kept this banner from previous baby showers. and then another paper garland we had made like the circle scallop one was below the table in green.

Bethany made the amazing popcorn (it was a HUGE hit) and the rainbow fruit platter. I had seen the idea just days before online and sent her the picture just because I thought it was cute and she made it! SOOOO Cute.

Being St Patricks day we threw in a few shamrocks here and there.

OKay...so our activity at the shower, instead of cheesy baby shower games, we making bows and jewelry for Abby....or I should say Abby's baby! Abby just has two boys so being her first girl...she needs this stuff! And since that's my specialty...that's what we did! It was really fun, but my favorite part was watching Maliyah. Immediately she started teaching people what to do to make the jewelry and later how to do the flower bows. She is definitely her mothers daughter! She had a blast all night and loved helping Abby with the presents!

So....Baby Shower done, a great success and best of all was seeing Abby happy all night! It was a surprise and we pulled it off! I'm glad she and everybody else had fun. I enjoyed the evening. Even the next morning when I woke up unable to move (probably due to exhaustion) I was glad that we did it!

St Patricks Day? What?

So, this is so pathetic, but I have really hardly ANY pictures of St Patricks. Actually we did things a littl different this week. Since we had a preschool party scheuled for the day after ST Paddy's (that spelling is for you pauline), we didn't really do anything ON the day of other than wear some green. I know, totally lame and not typical of me, but it's been an insane week! Not to mention we did the Mardi Gras Stuff on Wednesday instead and I wasn't about to combine the two.

But even worse is that at the preschool party I took only 4 pictures before my camera died and none of them really turned out! I was so sad, especially cause I had quickly worked ot make a skirt for Maliyah to match Savannah's.

And we did make Rainbow Cupcakes for the Preschool party. They were really cool to make and with the extra batter we made a couple mini cakes. The cakes were better only because with using more batter there was more color and they just were awesome! I saw these over a year ago on someones blog, but then saw them again this year on the family fun website....SO dang cool! The only thing I did different with mine was mix the color into the batter in ziplock baggies so that all I had to do was cut a little hole in the bag to squeeze out into the pan. Much faster than spooning it, BUT....mixing in the bag took longer than I thought, so next time I would mix each color in bowls then put into a bag and squeeze out. Either way the kids enjoyed helping me make them. I also wouldn't recommend mini cupcakes like we did because in order to use all the colors it ended up being too much batter and so the tops fell...making them look like mushrooms!

and I almost forgot about this picture. Jayden holding his rainbow! My friend Bethany threw the preschool party and for one of the activities she hid foam rectangles all over the room. The kids had to come and find the pieces and organize the colors on the floor to make a rainbow. It was really a fun idea!

St Patricks Day! 3-17-09

Tuesday, St. Patricks day, I totally took this picture to send out or post on that day, but, um, nope! But at least you can see it now! Kyson wasn't necessarily opposed to getting these pictures, but everytime I had him looking with a smile, the other two weren't, and everytime they were looking and smiling, he wasn't. So this was the best we got, at least he is looking at the camera!

After getting them to sit for a picture I had to get the house and things ready for company we were having for dinner that night so I set them in front of a movie. Jade was being so cute, I just snapped some shots of him while he was sitting still.

Remember my pink Oreo cookies we did for Valentines? Well when I was trying to think of a dessert....these came to mind. So we did them! I didn't know of a green cake mix, so we just used a white one and I tinted it with green food coloring. It was a little harder to make it all uniformly green as the dough is thick, but they still turned out awesome!
