Weekly update, Thanksgiving and Maliyah's Birthday

I wasn't going to do this tonight. I put it off yesterday and I should really be in bed, but Duck is out of town which means I get to sleep in....so I'm taking advantage of the ability to stay up a little late.

The last two weeks flew. We were busy getting ready for a trip, taking the trip, then recouping from the trip! Actually amazingly I unpacked and recovered pretty fast, but it was a really busy week following so it seemed crazy!

We were grateful though for the opportunity to go and spend Thanksgiving with the Duckworths. My parents were in New Mexico so I only got to see them for a few minutes in passing, but at least we got to see them! I also got to see my cousin Kim whom I haven't seen in forever! We stayed at her parents house and they drove wtih my parents to New Mexico so we got to see them all. Thanks Jerry and Suzanne for letting us stay at your place...we truly appreciate it!

While at Duckworths we had Maliyah's birthday party with her cousins. She planned most of it from the theme, strawberry Shortcake, to the cake...the party favors and she even decorated grandmas house. She did a great job decorating the kids food table even!

Even Chocolate covered Strawberries! Yum! (this one is actually of Maliyah licking the frosting off the strawberry figuring)

And of course what's a strawberry shortcake birthday without Strawberry Shortcake presents! Although I think her favorite gift was from her cousins and Aunt Jessica...a Necklace with a sparkly M!!

We actually arrived in Utah early Thanksgiving morning...4:00 am...and had a few hours of sleep before having to get to Duckworths for Duck to go play football with his brother. We had the little party when they got back then the kids got to play all day until dinner! Linda put on a terribly awfuly yummy spread of food! Thanks Linda! And again...and wondefully decorated kids table with Turkeys!

Friday morning I got to go shopping with my sister Janine. It was crazy but fun to be together! She then put on a little mini birthday for Maliyah with the Packer cousins! They made a little craft, played, ate pizza and cupcakes and of course again...gifts! Maliyah's first zhu zhu pet....yay, thanks Janine ;). And thanks Janine for making it so special for Maliyah. I don't know if I ever thanked you!

We had to leave Sunday morning so Saturday was our last day with Duckworths. We were very grateful though for the time we got to spend with them. Saturday the guys went to the BYU, Utah game and the gals and kids when shopping and out to lunch. Even though Jessica was childless for the morning, it was fantastic to have her join us! Thanks Jess. After naps the kids got to play in the snow! They made the first dents in grandmas backyard snow.

Lastly the kids got a special treat from Grandpa. He had a big train set he wanted to show them, but before setting it up they had a little lesson about trains. It ws fun to see them all lined up listening to him. Then they all got turns controlling it.

We had to say goodbye tht night as we were leavint the next morning. It was a short trip, but we are so glad we made it. It was so nice to be with the family all weekend, staying up late playing games every night and just hangning out. Thanks Steve, Linda, GAvin, Jessica and all the kiddos! We love you all!
