More of our school and organization {homeschool}

Although I got most of my re-organization for school done last week, there are still little things here and there I want to keep adding. This week was decorating the kids binders. I had printed slips to go in the sides to identify who's was who's and then they each got to decorate the fronts.

This particular day to keep entertained during school Jayden and Savannah built a fort

And my poor Emma was sick.

Another thing we started this week was a menu for our day meals. I've been doing a dinner menu for over a year now and I LOVE it! But I always run out of ideas for snacks and lunches. So the kids and I brainstormed on lunches and snacks and I plugged them into a chart. We go two weeks then just repeat the same thing over again. I have LOVED it! The kids seem to like it better too becasue they get more variety...especially in their snacks.

I also found these cute little baskets at Michaels and we just line them with a napkin for snack time. I don't have to wash any dishes, but it's sturdier than just a napkin.

So with our new chore system the kids have been really motivated to do extra jobs so they can make money...Here is one of my slaves working away!

Thursday morning we had our preschool fieldtrip to the library. I almost didn't go because I forgot to fit it into our school schedule this week, but the kids were amazing...got all their work done fast and we were able to go!

The kids got a couple stories and songs a craft and then the older kids got to go on a tour of the library. The best part (to them) was they got to go upstairs where NOBODY goes except Library employees. Lol, I even heard a nearby preschool kid (from another group) all worried to his teacher because some kids were going up the stairs where they aren't supposed to go!

This week on our Fun Day (Friday) we did a few science projects. WE were learning about plants and their different parts. Supposedly something is supposed to grow from these carrot heads.....

And this celery (the stem) is supposed to suck up the water...although it kinda didn't suck. It asked for a stalk with leaves, but I had already cut all the tops off...maybe that's our problem?

Either way we had fun learning about plants, the kids are enjoying watching them sit on our counter day after day and I'm just counting down to the day they do something so our project can be off my counter! (get it...counting/counter? Ha!)
