Birthday Trip to the Coast

Thursday the 7th, we headed out to Lincoln City to start our weekend family trip! The kids had been wanting to take a trip to the Seaside for awhile and we knew we wanted to one more time, so once Jayden proved his potty training successfull, and we had a reason to do something (my birthday!) we went for it! Plus we had gotten a stellar deal on an old pop up trailer and decided we would try it out.

We got there pretty late Thursday night, so started our adventures Friday morning.

The kids played around a bit while Duck took the campter down. There is also a Lake called Devils Lake very close so I took the kids out there to throw rocks. It's really an awesome place and the Ocean is just across the street so you can hear the waves all night long!

Our trip wasn't totally planned out. I love just exploring along the coast so after shopping at the outlet malls, we just drove south and when we saw something we wanted to do, we did it!

For the first time we got to see a glass blower in action and the kids were really enthralled. (and so was I!)

Dipping his dab of glass in the colored glass shards.

Once he has all the colors melted on his pole (no we didn't ask for technical terms), he starts the blowing. You can't see it, but there is a tube that attaches to the end of his tube and he is slowly blowing in it as he is rolling and shaping.

Once the right size he finishes it off with a little hookie thing. (Kinda like a Christmas Ornament!)

I think they must lighten up once they cool because all the balls in the store were very brightly colored. I would LOVE to have a tree in my yard full of these!
