Teeth! {homeschool activity}

Last week some of our school activities focused on Dental Hygiene. A couple things not pictured was of course what we discussed. I found some lesson ideas online with book suggestions and I just modified them to work for us. One of the crafts we made was little tissue paper pictures. I don't even know what you call it when you use the little squares, you wrap them around the end of a pencil and press on paper with glue? Anyway their pictures were of toothbrushes and they really did a good job. I was impressed with how well Kyson caught on. Then we made smile collages. Found magazines to cut toothey smiles and paste on construction paper.

But, then I saw this great activity online where you take eggs, color them in a dark soda then show the kids what brushing our teeth does! YOu talk about the stuff we put in our mouth makes our teeth dirty so we have to brush them daily. It was really cool! so, first you let the eggs soak in a dark soda:

Then you use tooth brushes and tooth paste and let them carefully brush the eggs.

And as you can see the egg gets clean!

We like clean teeth! And of course the kids love even more....ROOT BEER!

The next Friday we all went to the dentist....thus why we had this little segment!
